    #BeCyberSmart This Cybersecurity Awareness Month

    This October, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance are raising awareness about the importance of cybersecurity across the Nation and working to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online. Weekly themes throughout Cybersecurity Awareness Month focus on being cyber smart, "phighting the phish", and more. Visit cisa.gov for key Cybersecurity Awareness Month resources to help your school community stay safe online.

    Keeping Schools Safe from Bomb Threats

    In October, 15 years ago, CISA's Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP) started working to enhance and coordinate the national effort to protect communities against attacks. OBP thanks academic institutions and other partners for their collaboration in recognizing and reporting suspicious activity. Please stay involved: visit OBP, find out about its Bomb-Making Materials Awareness Program (BMAP), or take one of its free, online trainings to enhance your security.

    Bullying and Cyberbullying Resources for K-12 Schools

    National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month occurs every October to raise awareness about the effects of bullying. Bullying and cyberbullying threaten students' physical and emotional safety and can impact their social and academic success at school. The Federal School Safety Clearinghouse offers resources, tools, and information to educate students and school staff about preventing and responding to bullying and cyberbullying in kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) communities.     Virtual Symposium: Understanding and Preventing Youth Hate Crimes and Identity-Based Bullying – Oct. 27-28, 2021

    Hosted by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, this national symposium will focus on preventing and combating identity-based bullying and criminal extremist hate groups. It will address important topics like current trends and research on identity-based bullying, cyberbullying, youth-related hate crimes, and how hate groups use social media and technology to reach, recruit, and radicalize youth.     Phishing - General Security Postcard (CISA) – This postcard explains the cybercrime known as phishing (an attempt by an individual or group to solicit personal information from unsuspecting users by employing social engineering techniques) and provides signs and tips to prevent these attacks.
