When Ponder joined the Cloudcroft board six years ago, the district faced a major budget shortfall. The board of the 364 -student mountain district made controversial cost cutting decisions, including cutting the school week to four days. Today, the district is on firm financial footing and its board was named New Mexico School Board Association’s (NMSBA) 2017 Small School Board of the Year.
