    CDC Healthy School Partners,

    The CDC is hosting a webinar on Getting to Know the Healthy Schools Branch at CDC. During this session, they will provide an overview of CDC's Healthy Schools Branch led by the Branch Chief, Holly Hunt, and the Physical Activity Specialist, Kelly Cornett. Attendees will hear about the branch's scope of work and research priorities while also learning about the Whole School Whole Community Whole Child (WSCC) framework, Comprehensive School Physical Activity Programs (CSPAP), and examples of implementation from the field.

    Getting to Know the Healthy Schools Branch at CDC Webinar Speakers

    Holly Hunt, MA (Branch Chief @CDC Healthy Schools Branch)

    Holly Hunt, MA, is Chief of the Healthy Schools Branch in the Division of Population Health (DPH), at CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP). The School Health Branch leads chronic disease prevention activities specific to children and adolescents in schools with a focus on obesity prevention, nutrition and physical activity, and management of chronic conditions. With a long history of working across education and public health agencies, the Healthy Schools Branch provides rich partnerships and expertise for implementing public health practices in schools.

     

     

    Kelly Cornett, MS (Health Scientist @CDC Healthy Schools - Atlanta, GA)
    Kelly Cornett, MS, is a Health Scientist on the Research Application and Evaluation Team in the Healthy Schools Branch of CDC's Division of Population Health serving as the physical activity and physical education content lead for the Branch. She has over 10 years of experience in the exercise science and health promotion fields. Prior to her current role, she served in CDC's Physical Activity and Health Branch on the Translation and Evaluation Team developing research translation products, forging new partnerships, and leading collaborations to support walkable, active communities. Originally from Minnesota, she holds a BS in Kinesiology from the Honors College at Michigan State University and a MS in Exercise Physiology from James Madison University in Virginia. Preceding her work at CDC, she served as the Physical Activity and School Health Specialist for the Georgia Department of Public Health implementing a statewide initiative to integrate physical activity into the school day.
