COSA Webinar: Cameras in the Classroom

When:  Jun 22, 2017 from 01:00:00 PM to 02:15:00 PM (ET)

Cameras and audio recording devices are finding their way into public school classrooms in a variety of ways.  Parents of students with disabilities request audio/video/GPS feeds from their children due to safety concerns.  Schools themselves seek a record of teacher performance.  Police and security officers in schools wear body cameras to record incidents.  Texas recently enacted state laws requiring cameras in special education settings at parent request, and encouraging police body cameras.  Are other states following suit?  Has there been any guidance or clarity in the law on video recording taken by schools? And how should schools address requests by parents for live recording devices worn by their children in the classroom?  Two school attorneys well-versed in this area will update you on the latest laws, trends, and practical advice.
